Wild Kakwa Outfitters provides archery trophy bull moose hunts and rifle moose hunts in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta Canada.

The last 11 years Wild Kakwa Outfitters have guided 1 moose rut hunters and harvested 147 bulls. Last fall we guided 20 hunters and harvested 19 bulls, 12 of which were trophy bulls. Hunters have been harvesting moose in the 35 - 60 inch range, with live weights of 800-1400 lbs.

The aerial survey done by Alberta Natural Resources revealed that our hunting area is among the best in Alberta Canada for both archery and rifle rut hunts. They estimated the population to be over 5000 moose with 1500 bulls.


Archery Moose Hunts
5 days, September 19 - 23rd.
This archery moose hunt takes place during the early rut. Hunters will be hunting on foot and from stands over mineral springs. The bulls are very territorial and will come in close when they are challenged. Your guide will call using bull grunts and cow moose mating calls to bring the bull into 20 - 50 yards. Hunters should be able to shoot accurately out to 50 yards and a range finder is recommended. Our goal is to call Pope and Young bulls into 40 yards or less for an exciting hunt. Success on Archery hunts ranges from 50 - 100% kill and over 200% opportunity.
5 day Archery Moose Hunt $4,900.00 plus licenses and tax - $5,620.00

Rifle Moose rut hunts
8 days, September 25 - October 20.
Our rifle rut hunts are very exciting because the bulls are very aggressive and respond well to cow calls. We will be duplicating the cow moose mating call in areas with high densities of moose and high bull to cow ratios. We have consistently out performed other outfitters.
8 day Rifle Rut Hunt $6,900.00 plus licenses and tax - $7,695.00

2008 rifle rut hunt summary:

2006 rifle rut hunt summary:
In 2006 Bruce Rowe from Wisconsin (715-327-4672) shot the number 1 moose in Alberta on a guided hunt. The bull was called within 20 yards and he took him using a .50 caliber Thompson Center and Encore rifle. Read his story here:


November Moose Hunts
6 days, November 1 - 30
The last 4 years we have been 100% kill on this hunt. This is a spot & stalk hunt in an area with high densities of bull moose. The area we hunt has large clearcuts with lots of moose. We glass the clearcuts and stalk in close to harvest a bull.
6 day rifle moose hunt $5,500.00 plus licenses and tax - $6,255.00

• Pick up at the Grande Prairie Airport, Alberta Canada
• Transportation and guiding service with Wild Kakwa Outfitters during the hunt.
