Ryan - 2001 Moose/Elk Hunt
THIS HUNT WAS A DREAM COME TRUE!
While
coming to moose hunt I opted to purchase an elk tag from Rick.
I was fortunate to get my moose early in the hunt, but what a
moose it was! A 49.5 inch monster! There was plenty of help to
get the moose out, and the four wheeled drive quads and trailer
worked better than one could imagine.
The
guides are first rate and give 100%, even when they are tired.
After I harvested my moose we started hunting for elk. We saw
approximately twelve elk during this hunt, four of which were
bulls. Jake, my guide, found this incredible spot and early in
the evening of the same day, I harvested this 6X6 elk at 25 yards!

 I
have been to different outfitters in the past, but have never
been to one like Rick Houweling and Wild Kakwa Outfitters. The
campsite is clean, the bunk tents have wooden floors and heaters,
and there is a shower tent to keep you clean and stink free.

Houweling makes sure you have plenty to eat. She is an incredible
cook and prepares three meals a day with good coffee. All the
hunters come to hunt and discussions around the dinner table are
a lot of fun. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and willing
to be flexible to suit your needs. To finish off this wonderful
experience, we got to see the aurora borealis. This trip was great
and I highly recommend Rick Houweling and Wild Kakwa Outfitters.
