John Kemp - Elk Hunt 2007
After driving up to camp
from Akron, Ohio, my friend and I unloaded our gear into a really
nice cabin, something you wouldn't expect to stay in this far
into the bush. My guide for the week was Lowell, a very experienced Elk hunter. The 2nd night of my hunt we were on elk at
the end of the night. Going back to the same area in the morning,
Lowell was working a bull at 7:30 AM. After one last bugle by Lowell, the 6x6 bull came in, I shot him at 25 yards. Watching Rick and his son Ricky get my elk out of the woods
with the quads was a treat in itself. Everyone pitched in.
Rita and her daughter Vanessa are excellent cooks, you won't go
hungry. I have been on 2 moose hunts and 2 whitetail hunts in
Canada and without a doubt this is the most exciting thing I have
done. I would highly recommend this hunt to anyone. It is not
like the elk hunts you see on TV. (out west in the States) Some
open areas but mostly woods, a lot of walking, but worth every
cent.
